Dear Nursing Students not yet in clinical,

Are you planning to take the first clinical course NU226 next semester? If you have completed the prerequisites* for the first clinical course, NU 226 – Introduction to Nursing, and you are planning to go to clinical, you are required to attend a one hour pre-clinical orientation. Students will not be allowed to enroll in the first clinical course without attending an orientation. Sign-up sheets for these sessions are posted outside of the College of Nursing & Health Sciences (CNHS). The dates and times are as follows:

PLEASE NOTE THE TIMES BELOW - a change from what was emailed to you on 10.28.05

Monday, November 28th from 10-11am 2nd floor Nursing lab

Monday, December 5th from 10-11am 2nd floor Nursing Lab

and the following date has been added 11.02.05 to accomodate those who cannot attend on a Monday

Wednesday, December 7th from 12-1pm 2nd floor Nursing Lab

The clinical clearance process will be discussed at the orientation.

Clinical clearance requirements also include the following:

  • TB test (do not take before classes end)
  • Health insurance
  • Hepatitis B – 3 shot series – If you have not already started the Hepatitis series you must start it immediately.
  • Tetanus immunization (within the past 10 years)
  • Varicella titer documenting immunity to chicken pox

*The following courses must be completed before taking NU 226:

  • ENGL 101 & 102
  • Nutrition
  • SOCIOL 101
  • A&P I
  • Microbiology
  • Human Growth & Development
  • CHEM 130 (if you have not already taken A&P II)
