Welcome To Important announcments 10.16.05

Dear Nursing BS students:
Please take note of these important announcements that may affect YOU!:

Note – the email successfully transmitted to a few students on 10.13.05, but information has changed, so please check details below.

 

  • Scholarships:
    • Nursing has several scholarships which are awarded annually to students – ranging from $200 to $4,000. To be considered, please complete the application by NOVEMBER 14th, 2005 (Monday, 5pm). The application form will be available in hard copy format from the front desk beginning Monday 10.17.05  Please note, the deadline has been extended to 11/14 from 11/04 due to computer/communications problems.  Application
    • Nursing MERIT scholarships are available – awards range from $500 to $1,500. Details & application will be sent in a separate email and the application form will be available in hard copy format from the front desk beginning Monday 10.17.05. To be considered, please complete the application by NOVEMBER 10th, 2005 (Thursday, 5pm). Application.

  • Open Advising for Nursing BS students will be held November 21, 22, and 30th.  from 9a-12noon and 1p-4p. A detailed email will be sent in the next few weeks. The purpose of this event is to review your progress and register for your Spring classes. Open Advising is required for students in NU226 and below and is optional for students in NU310 and Jr/Sr level courses. Please review the detailed email when you receive it.

 

  • Please note that the name of your assigned faculty advisor has been emailed to you. The following definition can help you determine if you need to see your faculty advisor or a Student Affairs Specialists/Academic Advisor (Valerie Miller and John Mascetta).
  • Faculty Advisor = All generic nursing and EHS students are assigned to a faculty advisor who is available for consultation throughout the semester. The advisor provides guidance related to careers, resources available to aid in students’ studies, and course selection. The relationship between the faculty advisor and student involves the sharing of information which aids in the development and successful completion of educational plans. A list of faculty advisor assignments is located outside of the CNHS main office.
  • SAS = (Academic Advisors) are available to meet with all nursing and EHS students regarding the interpretation of College and institutional requirements, policy issues, and to make student referrals to appropriate resources.  Traditional RN students are assigned to an SAS who is available for consultation throughout the semester. The advisor provides guidance related to course selection and makes referrals to appropriate campus resources. Online RN students are assigned to the online program coordinator.

 

4) Attend Student Nurses’ Association Info Session - Become A Leading Nurse Professional! Attend One Of The Following Information Sessions:

              Monday, October 17th   or Thursday, October 20th,
              11:30am – 1:00pm Ryan Lounge, 3rd Floor McCormack

5) CNHS & University Health Services is celebrating National Primary Care Week by hosting: Disparities in Health Care Services Tuesday, October 18, 2005 3-4 PM,  Ryan Lounge, McCormack Hall 3rd floor.
