New Student email issue/resolution

9.16.05 EG

It has come to our attention that many NEW students are unable to receive email from their instructors. This is the cause and the solution:

Long story short, this has been an ongoing issue due to the systems and processes but this will not be an issue in the future once PeopleSoft goes live. By the end of next week (Sept 23rd) the online faculty roster system will include all new students' emails. IF you have ACTIVATED your email account, you will get emails from your professors. If you have not yet gone to Customer Service to activate your account and receive a password, you will not get an email.

Faculty HAVE BEEN notified about this issue for new students email and have been given 3 alternative methods for getting email to you.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

  1. COMMUNICATE with your professor if you have having problems so s/he will know you are making efforts on your end to keep up with the course requirements!
  2. PLEASE BE PATIENT, and don't be discouraged. We apologize for the frustration this has caused you, but promise you we are doing all we can to provide you with reliable communication with the college and university.
  3. STAY IN THE LOOP - work with your classmates and friends in making sure you receive info sent to your class.
  4. ALWAYS CHECK IN to www.cnhs.umb.edu to read the most recent important announcements and find copies of email blitzes sent out by CHS administration/staff.

Your professor may have me post info for you there also, so stay tuned in! If you are ever in doubt about news or deadlines, check into this site for clarification.

IF you have questions or concerns that are not addressed and you believe others need to be in-the-know also, email elizabeth.garcia@umb.edu and I will do my best to track down the answer and post it for you and all students to be aware. It is very important to use that you feel good about communication within the college and that you know what you need to be your best.

We thank you for your patience and apologize for the email glitch for new students at the beginning of the year.

Please keep a positive attitude and know we are working to make your experience a good one.

Warm Regards, ElizaBeth
