Call for Research Proposals

 

 

A primary goal of Theta Alpha Chapter of Umass Boston is to facilitate nursing research by chapter members. The Theta Alpha Chapter Executive Board and the Members of the Theta Alpha Research Committee are pleased to announce the annual call for research proposals. Those submitting proposals must be current members of Theta Alpha Chapter. The awards for the 2006-2007 academic year are:

The Anne K. Kibrick Award

$1,500.00

The Brenda S. Cherry Award for a Doctoral Student

$2,000.00

 

Research awards will be announced at the UMB College of Nursing/Theta Alpha Chapter Sigma Theta Tau Annual Research Day on May 18, 2007.

Due Date: All proposals are due at the College of Nursing by April 13, 2007 at 5pm. Please submit 12 copies of your proposal (one copy with name, address, telephone number, fax number, and email address, and 11 copies without any author identification). Only one cover letter is needed. Specific evaluative criteria are available on line:

or from Dr. Deborah Mahony, Chair, Alpha Theta Tau Research Committee.

Proposal: The proposal should be typed in 12-point font, double-spaced and be no more than 6 pages, excluding references figures and tables. The proposal should include:

1-Abstract (100 words or less)

2-Purpose and Problem Statement or Hypothesis

3-Significance of the Problem and Background, including the Conceptual and/or Theoretical Framework and/or Guiding Constructs.

4-Literature Review

5-Methodology, including:

                  a-Short statement describing the research design

                  b-Study participants or other data sources

                  c-Empirical indicators (e.g. instruments for quantitative study; interview guides for qualitative

                     study)

                  d-Data Collection procedures

                  e-Data analysis plan
