Exercise & Health Sciences Program ConcentrationsThe Department of Exercise and Health Sciences has an innovative curriculum that will provide a strong competitive advantage as you prepare for a successful career in the expanding exercise and health science field. Our academic program has three areas of concentration: Curriculum Plans for Exercise and Health Sciences Health ScienceThis concentration prepares students for future careers in nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, public health, nutrition, and other health professions. This concentration will provide a sound scientific basis of health and wellness while also offering flexibility for selecting particular courses geared towards individual career objectives in the health professions.
Fitness Instruction and ManagementThis concentration prepares students for careers in fitness center management, personal training, sports conditioning, worksite health promotion, or exercise-related businesses. Selected courses in this track include Strength and Conditioning, Fitness Assessment, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Program Design, Practicum in Adult Fitness, Introduction to Business, Financial Accounting and Health/Fitness Management.
Exercise ScienceThis concentration prepares students for careers in physical activity-related research, cardiac rehabilitation, clinical exercise physiology, pediatric exercise, or future post-graduate exercise study. Selected courses in this concentration include Obesity and Weight Management, Exercise Physiology I and II, Pediatric Exercise, Advanced Topics, and Clinical Exercise Testing.
