2008 Summer Genetics Institute (SGI), June 8-August 1, 2008The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) is proud to announce the 2008 Summer Genetics Institute (SGI), to be held June 8-August 1, 2008, at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Md. The SGI is an intensive, two-month summer research training program designed to provide a foundation in molecular genetics for use in research and clinical practice. The purpose of the SGI is to develop and expand the research capability among graduate students and faculty in schools of nursing, and to develop and expand the basis for clinical practice in genetics among advanced practice nurses. The program is open to doctoral students, faculty in schools of nursing, and advanced practice nurses who are citizens or permanent residents in the United States. SGI features both classroom and laboratory components and participants will spend two months in residence at NIH. Program graduates receive 12 hours of doctoral level credit for the course from Georgetown University. The online application for the 2008 SGI will be active by December 3, 2007 on the SGI web site.
