Message from Erica Rosenwald On Behalf of The Boston Globe

Dear Greer,

We are pleased to announce that we are gearing up for the 2008 Boston Globe Salute to Nurses program. This annual recognition program has grown tremendously popular with area healthcare facilities and hundreds of nurses have been nominated over the past six years.

In the past two years, the program has also honored an exceptional nursing faculty member. Last year, more than 20 nursing faculty were nominated for the award by their students, each of nominations from a student who had been positively impacted by the dedication and commitment of their teacher.

The nursing faculty award winner is chosen by a panel of nursing experts based on nomination essays submitted by nursing students. This instructor will be honored at a special breakfast in May during National Nurses Week and featured in the Salute to Nurses supplement, which publishes May 4.

The Boston Globe is currently accepting nominations for this award through March 17. We are writing to ask you to share this information with your students and encourage them to nominate a teacher who has made a difference.

Nominations can be made online at www.boston.com/salute. In approximately 300 words or less, tell us about the impact this individuals has on students, how their work fosters great future nurses, community outreach, and service or research performed that demonstrates their ability to put Nursing principles into practice.
