CNHS Announcements

Dear Faculty and Staff Members,

The SNA hopes this email finds you well. On Wednesday, October 8 at 2:00 pm, the SNA along with Professor Pat Daoust will be presenting Jane Gilody’s film 'Today the Hawk Takes One Chick'. After the film presentation, an open discussion is planned. The film and discussion will take approximately two hours. This film presents the stories of three African Gogos, Grandmothers, living in Swaziland Africa. These women have watched their adult children die of AIDS and as a result are forced to raise their many grandchildren on their own. This is a story that is being repeated in the lives of so many Gogos in Swaziland Africa. We would truly love to have you there to share this sensitive portrayal of how HIV/AIDS affects the lives of so many.

The SNA has reserved the big room in Healey Library, 11th floor for the event. We are requesting your support in encouraging faculty, staff, and students of the college of nursing and health sciences to attend this event. Advertising for the event will be via flyers and the UMass T.V. monitor. Student Life has been extremely helpful with organizing this event. Refreshments will consist of water and delicious New England fall apples.

We are planning to inform the chairpersons of the African Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, and Biology departments of the event and asking for their participation.

We genuinely hope your busy schedule allows you and many people from CNHS to attend.

Sincerely:
The SNA Board
