Accelerated Nursing Option

Application Process

The Accelerated Nursing Option begins once a year in the summer semester. The due date for all application materials for the Accelerated Nursing Option is February 1.

Effective February 2, 2009 all applicants must attend a mandatory Accelerated Information Session before submitting the information below.

All applicants must submit the following to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions:

• Complete undergraduate admissions application.
• Official transcripts from all schools attended since high school
• Complete a 500 word essay entitled “What is a Professional Nurse”
• Provide two (2) professional recommendations

Please submit all materials to: Undergraduate Admissions, UMass Boston, 100 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston, MA 02125-3393

Please visit Undergraduate Admissions to apply online or download an application. If you complete a paper application, please indicate your desired major as "Accelerated Nursing."

If you obtained a Bachelors degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston or completed coursework at UMass Boston as an accepted/matriculated student you will still need to submit the application items listed above.

Please note: If applying online, please choose the "Accelerated Nursing Program" as your intended major.

Tentative Schedule of Notification

Below is a list of notification regarding the Accelerated Nursing Option. Please note that these times are approximate and may vary.

Notification of Finalists: Last week of February
Interviews for Finalists: First two weeks of March
Decision Notification: 4^th week of March
