Online RN-BS Admission Requirements

The admission criteria for the Online RN-BS Program is as follows:
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse;
  • GPA of 2.75 or better (if your GPA is lower than a 2.75, please contact us to discuss your options);
  • The following courses must be at least three (3) credits with a grade of C or higher to transfer:
English I 3 credits
English II 3 credits
*Anatomy and Physiology I 4 credits
*Anatomy and Physiology II 4 credits
*Microbiology 4 credits
Growth and Development 3 credits
Social and Behavioral Science Elective 3 credits

*If a student does not have previous coursework in Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition or Pharmacology, they have the option of taking a National League for Nursing Examination (NLN) for that subject. Students must score a 50 percentile or higher on the exam in order to recieve credit for the course at UMass Boston. These exams are offered each month at UMass Boston. Transfer Credits

Up to 70 credits can be transferred from a two (2) year accredited academic institution and up to 90 transfer credits may be transferred from a four (4) year accredited academic institution. There is no time limit on accepting science courses for Registered Nurses.
